Thai Child Support or Guardianship

 
                                                     THAI CHILD SUPPORT
 

If you are not married to a Thai national, but have a child with a Thai national or wishing to adopt a Thai child, then you may qualify for Non-Immigrant O Visa based upon having a Thai child (a child of a Thai nationality).  However, you have to complete a child legitimisation or child adoption process before applying for this type of visa - it is a primary pre-condition.

 
In addition to evidence of your parentship, you have to deposit not less than 400,000 Thai Baht in a Thai bank or present an official document that would confirm that your monthly income is not less than 40,000 Thai Baht.
 
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EXTENSION:
 
1.   parenthood or adoption related documents (birth certificate, administration decisions and certificates, and/or relevant court ruling);
2.  bank statement showing that you have deposited not less than 400,000 Thai Baht in a Thai bank; or
3.  documents showing that you have a monthly income of not less than 40,000 Thai baht.
 
IMPORTANT NOTES:
 
1.  you are not entitled to work, do business, or hold any consultancy positions in Thailand, unless you obtain a Thai Work Permit.
2.  you have to submit 90-day reports to the respective immigration office.  
 
                                                                                    
                                                                          GUARDIANSHIP
 
You would like your child to attend an international school or accredited Thai school in Thailand.  You wish to accompany your child while he/she attends an international school or accredited Thai school in Thailand.  If yes, then you can apply for Non-Immigrant O Visa based on accompanying your child in Thailand.
 
You may qualify for this type of Visa if your child has been enrolled in an international school or accredited Thai school in Thailand.
 
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EXTENSION:
 
1.  issued Non-Immigrant ED Visa for your child and issued Non-Immigrant O Visa for you;
2.  you have to deposit not less than 500,000 Thai baht in your account opened in a Thai bank not earlier than 30 days prior to the application date (for first extension), and not earlier than 90 days prior to the application date (for second and any subsequent extensions)*;
3.  providing all necessary documents to the respective immigration office (to be provided by your child's school);
4.  notarised birth certificate of your child.. 
 
* Your bank has to provide you with an official letter confirming that your account's balance is over 500,000 Thai Baht.
